The recent eruption of Taal volcano and the apparent fear brought about by the corona virus (COVID-19) outbreak sent the public into a frenzy to buy protective face masks. Within days, stocks of medical masks depleted in local pharmacies and drug stores.

Most of the medical suppliers and wholesalers can be found along Bambang St. in Sta. Cruz, Manila – probably due to its proximity to the head office of the Department of Health. Most of the importers and distributors of face masks can be found here.
